Recovery Rites
Is ED Coaching Right for Me?
Some things to think about as you consider whether or not this program is for you:
- A first suggestion in determining whether or not to take this program is to start to listen to yourself now. As you read through the website and the program overview, do you feel curious? Does something ignite inside you, even just a little bit, even if it’s a sensation you might usually ignore? Pay attention to that. Whether the knowing inside you leads you to sign up or not, I want to encourage you to pay attention to that.
- This is a very different eating disorder recovery coaching program. While it is about the here and now — as many eating disorder recovery coaching programs are — it is less about the nitty gritty of eating food, purchasing clothing, engaging with exercise differently and body positivity. Those programs can be great, and so needed, but this is not that. Recovery Rites is more about learning and engaging with the 9 Rights of Recovery and identifying rituals, or “rites,” and practices that begin to shift your physiology and mindset so that you experience greater ease with all of the action involved in living in recovery.
- This isn’t a substitute for therapy or working with an eating disorder specialized Registered Dietician. This program is meant to add to the work you are doing with your treatment team, not replace it.
- You may benefit more from this program if you feel a moderate to high motivation for recovery or if you feel a sense of readiness.
- This program is grounded in an intersectional Fat-Liberatory framework and is Health at Every Size™ informed.
- Recovery Rites is LGBTQ+ affirmative. It is also important to name that this program will always strive to be a safe space for trans and gender non-binary individuals and recognizes that some folks in this community have had negative, pathologizing, or harmful experiences in the embodiment community and/or in eating disorder treatment.
- You are welcome in this program regardless of your ED diagnosis and regardless of whether or not you currently meet criteria for the diagnosis. It is developed for anyone struggling with disordered eating challenges regardless of the presentation. Having said this, if you are struggling with severe health challenges associated with your ED, and you have been recommended to a residential or inpatient level of care, I encourage you to work with your team towards medical stability before signing up. I’m also happy to answer questions to help you determine if now is the right time for you to invest in this program.
